Graphics user interface

The analysis of the Graphics User Interface structure is based on the required scenarios for the utilisation of STATLAS. The various atlas sections each have different scenarios and thus slightly different GUIs. Based on those scenarios the GUI is divided into several segments, i.e. navigation, interactions, map and information. Those main elements must be consistent and available throughout the whole project. The implementation of the Graphics User Interfaces is based on a thorough analysis of the planned query, analysis and display functionality of the system.

A crucial point to application and market success in the development of the GUI is the platform-independence which allows easy porting to other hardware and operating systems. Currently, the chosen QT platform offers this possibility and is thus intensively investigated. The first results are very promising and let expect a considerable boost of innovation through the presented concept. As for the system architecture, the result is mainly intended to be used by the involved partners either for this project or for further developments in related projects. We see this result not as a off-the-shelf product but rather as a knowledge base which can be (hopefully) easily adapted to further applications..
