The expected
results will make available a product that is unique in many perspectives.
Although similar products exist at a national level, there is nothing
like STATLAS at a European level. Besides the unique characteristic of
the EU coverage, there is a number of other characteristics inherent to
STATLAS that make the final product most popular in Europe and elsewhere.
The intuitive Graphics Users Interface, the GIS functionality, the production
of the atlas in a two-fold version [default - expert], the dynamic updating
of the system database, the 2D and 3D visualization functionality are
some of the STATLAS' unique characteristics.
Most certainly, the final product of the STATLAS project will be very
close to a marketable product and/or service with a large number of potential
customers. We expect this to happen with some form of cooperation with
the commission institutions (Eurostat, JRC) and we are currently examining
the possibility of implementing it through some other EU actions.
